2020 Nebraska Chapter 83
LB 230 restricts the use of room confinement in juvenile detention facilities in Nebraska, and mandates that alternatives to segregation be found and utilized prior to resorting to restrictive housing. This law also limits the use of room confinement for juveniles to no more than 1 hour in each 24 hour period, and requires juvenile facilities to submit quarterly reports to the Nebraska legislature detailing their use of restrictive housing for juveniles. LB 230 was signed into law on February 13, 2020.
