Massachusetts Bill S.1133 (2013)

In 2013, a bill was introduced into the Massachusetts Senate relative to the appropriate use of solitary confinement. It states that “Segregated housing should be for the briefest term and under the least restrictive conditions practicable and consistent with the rationale for placement and with the progress achieved by the inmate.” In May, 2014 it accompanied a study order and was discharged to the committee on Senate Ethics and Rules.
