2020 Louisiana Act No. 140
HB 344 prohibits the use of “solitary confinement” in Louisiana state prisons for incarcerated people who are pregnant, up to 8 weeks post-medical release following a pregnancy, or are caring for a child in a penal or correctional institution. This law is in effect as of August 1, 2020.
