Georgia HB 345 (Act 249)

Georgia HB 345 (Act 249)

2019 Georgia Act 294

The law, signed by the governor on May 7, 2019, prohibits placing a pregnant woman or woman who is in the immediate postpartum period in solitary confinement, administrative segregation, or for medical observation in a solitary confinement setting—as long as this does not prevent placing the woman in a cell or room by herself.

The bill establishes other rules concerning the treatment of pregnant women or women in a postpartum period such as limitations on restraints.
